Inspired by Winter King - The Dawn Of Tudor England, by Thomas Penn.
lyrics
Autumn 1494, Henry placed his young son
On a horses back to ride,
Through the streets of London
Against a writhing tide, of crowds
Who were astonished to see
The young prince passing by,
Riding unaccompanied,
His year was only three
A Duke he will soon ride
A duke you will soon find
Young Henry they cried
In Autumn 96, Warbeck’s men moved south
To plunder and to pillage,
From the English Mouth
And challenge Henry’s claim
To the English crown
A Resistance it did rise
And Henry’s raging tide,
Of war would not subside
Autumn 97, and Henry’s war raged on
His mind full of suspicion,
So many good men gone
And dressed in costly black and grey,
His fear it grew with every day
So his war it raged on,
His Kingdom would survive
The Pretender and his men
Began to sink beneath
Henry’s raging tide, and firm set mind
High up in the Tower
Two young men now dwell
Lost in mind and body, to the growing swell
Of conspirators and plotting men,
Their sorry young lives
Quenched of all that meant, anything true
Symbols of royal blood,
So near their deaths grew
Then in 1499
Warbeck and Warwick lost their, ill fated lives
Their troubled souls released
And Henry’s troubled mind, now at peace.

British folk musician Tom Nash built these delicate and moving songs around a broken harmonium, allowing its limitations to open up worlds. Bandcamp New & Notable Oct 12, 2021
Mostly recorded during late nights, hence the title, this EP is full of whispery synthpop that is both beguiling and mysterious. Bandcamp New & Notable Nov 12, 2022
