Wake up, its cold but go Lace up, for all your worth Take what your body holds Step up, you must step up. She was sent to find light in the darkest of places Bears might come, but she’ll stay in the forest through all this For a moment she saw in, as trees started falling But she’s safe, and she’ll stay in the forest through all this. Sore hands in fallen leaves Kneel down by splintered trees She’ll find all the poppy seeds To make oil, to make oil. In the end, she found fire in the coldest of places She’d been working her way through the forest in all this Just in time and she’s turning as trees started burning In this story she escapes from the forest and all this. Sun rise, in her own eyes Feel the sun rise, in her own eyes Feel the sun rise, in her own eyes.

Child destined to an icy fate Brave faced and proud Stoic little girl now Tell me are you warm Tell me are you warm On this winter floor And the, child only knows to smile And the, old man replied to her And he cloaked her in winter fur He clothed her in silver And placed her, on a stool Keeping her from the winter floor Child with a jealous soul Is placed in turn, on the winter floor In a cold hope, of riches to return And, Old Man Winter comes tell me Child are you warm but Child only knows to frown and Cry and the old man replies There’s no winter Fur And there’s no silver And there’s only, the icy ground Keeping her, in winters arms.

Cast myself from here I’ve heard of songs out at sea I am well prepared, and My boat’s sturdy I know this plan of mine is not safe at all The sound from Siren’s island leads me now And my course ahead is clear Sure I’ll pass her by I hear her singing for me, but then Watch the water rise I know this plan of mine is not safe at all The mass of timber bears all weight as it falls Below the waterline it’s not safe anymore Reach out for polystyrene and float for shore.
4.
Three daughters, beauty untold But one among them, the people held up to behold A beauty so pure and new. The people strew her with gifts and praise They didn’t see a deep anger brewing, a jealous heart Her admirers parted, for the locks and the curls. Am I Venus to be eclipsed by a mortal girl. And she wanders, burdened and alone Her heart plundered by a jealous god Her true beauty was lost and left unknown In her palace she sat, until dark, Her love, true love, gave her back her heart And in the morning parted Darkness keeping their love true And the people they couldn’t see They said that he must be revealed And doubt grew, In her mind and body, That knew so well the smell of you And one fateful night she unveiled Love And love fell and love fell. All she had was, falling back from her All she wanted, keep herself under In the darkness, their love was strong and true All she had was falling back from her And she wanders burdened and alone Her heart plundered by a jealous God Her beauty it was lost, left unknown.

Time is over and I know you’re gone. See you flying over, held my tongue Lines I send you only keep you down Faith in weather as my love is blown. Wind was very strong today When seven ravens flew away See you far upon a hill of glass I could never climb, but still I start Build the steps I need to bear our weight Seven years to make, and six I stayed Wind was very strong today When seven ravens flew away I was taken by the wind and swept away I could not respond to anything he’d say I was taken by the wind and swept away I could not respond to anything he’d say Time is over for I’m almost done. See you flying over, held my tongue. Hope my voice is strong and calls you down. Faith in weather and my love’s return. I was taken by the wind and swept away I could not respond to anything he’d say
6.
One winters day, in the snow she lay There was a tree, a juniper tree Nine months past and a child at last Tears were in her eye’s Of joy, and then she died. Now, the boy, white as snow, red as blood A new found love, a wicked love She cut his head, now he is dead Tears were in her eyes Of fear and devil’s lies Beautiful bird of Song he sings, for all his loves People look up above Below the tree there’s signs of life. Next winter’s day, now the boy would play Beneath the tree, the juniper tree.

Shame that I will live modestly A poor stonecutter eternally Grant you a wish now, who would you be? I’ll be a rich man, then I’ll be happy. After one year, how does wealth go? The sun still blinds me, rain wets my clothes. So I’ll be the sun now, and I’ll be the clouds. But all outlived by the rock in the ground. (Endless life I’ve found). But soon by your rock face you see A poor man’s hammer breaks off a piece. Grant you a wish now, who will you be? Be who you are and then you’ll be happy.
8.
I have hardly known you And do not know enough to Fall in love, but I stop in awe of… I can tend to feel lost It’s not the timing, it’s just Love is not the end, but a journey. Five ships leave in the morning And I’ll try to join the one you’re in. So I flew, I flew. So from here we shall see But I’m just happy to be On our way, but what a day To be stormy. Five ships left in the morning And I couldn’t find the one you’re in To see you I must be bold But as I climbed, I lost my foothold. And I flew, I flew. Your ship sails in the morning And I can’t keep you from going.
9.
There is life on the moon that you might hear of soon if you lean closer But they are just too far, living among the stars that look close in the water Then one night one of them shone a light and it reached the heart of Naia And she spent all her life reaching out for a love that was surely beyond her. Then she calls and she calls and she calls... I will meet you, come my love Reflected on the surface of The pond, your face so close to touch I am a lily in your light. She walked out in the night and suddenly spied his reflection before her She reached and she tripped off the side and she fell into the water She almost reached, then she drowned, but he saw as she sank down slowly under He took pity on her and granted her life, as the star of the river. Then she calls and she calls and she calls... I will meet you, come my love. Reflected on the surface of the pond. Your face so close to touch. I am a lily in your light. I am a lily in your light.

Oh Saci! 04:15
Open my eyes, the sun was high and bright, blue skies. I should’ve been up at least three hours ago. Clock broke, no way to tell the time, New socks to make me feel alright. I ran to the bus only to see it fly by. How could the day get any worse? As I stand by the roadside, I walk home, I get in the car, Wouldn’t start, put the choke on, cover my neighbour in the smoke from... Only to see the garden gate wide open, and the hutch door high, As the floor is torn up by hens running loose in the street, As the dust twists and writhes, up to the sky. Oh Saci Pererê, Oh Saci! Oh Saci Pererê, Oh Saci! Finally got into town, I was late, you were soaked. You had to wait in the rain. We rushed to the play I had tickets for, too late, again. Stopped to warm up, got some coffee and cake, As I went to pay my coins fell everywhere, I swear we didn’t find them all. It’s not how I pictured us on the floor, on our hands and knees, Searching for pennies that we couldn’t see. You had to pay, oh what a day! Oh Saci Pererê, Oh Saci! Oh Saci Pererê, Oh Saci! You caught your train, I drove home in the rain. Put my hand in my pocket for my house keys, Found a piece of paper had been slipped inside. I couldn’t believe, after such a bad day, you’d left a note, what will it say? Oh but the ink had run, your note was gone. Oh Saci Pererê, Oh Saci! Oh Saci Pererê, Oh Saci!

The Paris Wife We fell in Love and Married Moved to Paris You’d be a writer and I’d be your ever lasting love Accordions and whores Were to be our background score I’d cut my hair and you’d grow yours We’d be the same guy you’d say x 2 But then each day you’d disappear Into your fierce world of words My earnest and me, a young miss Hemmingway My earnest and me, a young miss Hemmingway Red headed, wedded, waiting, steady and straight You are the best parts of me he’d say And he was like an island where the weather always changed And I am a small boat tethered to his fate But I made the rope and tied a knot around the stake I threw the anchor overboard on our wedding day You’d be a writer and I’d be your ever lasting love But as you grew, you grew away But as you grew, you grew away And the words were the waves That wore against the stake That I’d placed And by the end I was loosening the knot I let my boat slip aside Into still waters away from your tide That continued to roll across the sea I’d done my part And so had she.

Turns out it was a terrible show I got my money back but she wont go And it’s far too late to follow The signs of love we’ll never know, you know What a waste of money and wine But then she took my hand it was an obvious sign She’s gonna walk me home, cos she’s got the time And it’s not just about this body of mine, you know No, no, no no no no no No, no, no no no no no No, no, no no no no no No Turns out her money’s a home So I can lead a life that I should have known I got a suitcase made and a fine coat wove She loves me dear because I always phone, you know. What a taste for money and wine Across the table there was an obvious sign There gonna walk me home, cos they’ve got the time And it’s not just about this body of mine, you know No, no, no no no no no No, no, no no no no no No, no, no no no no no No Doh doh doh doh doh….. We keep on talking but We’re playing at this love Forever, forever my dear Forever, forever my dear Doh doh doh doh doh.... No tea as I open the door I see my washing’s done but it’s on the floor I guess I should’ve loved her more And now she’s gone I never wanted her more What a waste of money and wine She took my heart and cat and car this time And it’s over now, but you know it’s fine It’s just a case of falling all the time.

Into the lion’s den Daniel, into the lion’s den he heard, whispered in his ear by a raven with eyes as dark as the streets they walk, and the sights they saw. Straight lines, have been stolen from me replaced by the tangled lives of this city. As I follow your steady eyes that lead me through the streets, that lead me to keep your secrets deep. Keep your eyes on me Lost in clouds and dark waters where boarders once set, begin to blur. A landscape carved in my mind over time. The rain and ice made her black wings in a slow history.   As we steal into the night we steal to find the light. In our hands we hold the things of old, from deep waters. Tells the story of how you got your feathered brow. In your waters I drowned But there I learnt to swim  Grew gills and fins    And you stole from me my order And I stole from you your time And we stole together The past to make the future bright Daniel, into the lion’s den he heard, whispered in his ear by a raven with eyes as dark as the streets they walk, and the sights they saw. Daniel, into the lion’s den he heard, whispered in his ear by a raven with eyes as dark as the streets they walk, and the sights they saw.

The Coral Thief There was an ocean over this town many years ago The signs are there if I can find them, as the corals show I’m not here in the street but walking by the shore I cast shadows on the walls but ripples on the floor Just close your eyes When the sea was high In it’s time The coral grew Nearby When you saw blue You saw all this too Though it hides From view This cave is far down I’ve made it my own A place to lie down You’ll stay, we’re fine now There was a line of many soldiers breaking up the stone They were taking back the horses, watching them go home They say the town is always changing, but if they read the signs They’d know the coral is just waiting for the oceans rise Dont close your eyes When the moon was high We stole in the night And voices grew Nearby So I ran too Where the coral grew So I might rise With you Their cave is far down I’ve made it my home A place to lie down Don’t stay, I’m fine now Don’t stay, I’m fine now Don’t stay, I’m fine now credits

Declaration 03:19
Declaration His hands are everywhere I turn His eyes are questioning and peaceful He looks into these depths as though he’s lost at sea, lost at sea He drove me away   His kindness is sticky Insistent, expecting And I feel small and bitter   I crave simplicity Like to think that I’m grateful But I don’t like this box I remember now your face Was soft your pace was slow and steady If only you could turn your back Instead of circling round, circling round You drove me away   Your kindness is sticky Insistent, expecting And I feel small and bitter   I crave simplicity Like to think that I’m grateful But I don’t like this box Even when we part I feel you Following following following following Arms round my waist you pull me back to you You drove me away You drove me away

When you speak When you speak, my body shakes, I do not understand, You are here, Your words are deep, in me, And I could see, through your eyes, could see, thorough your face As my body takes, what you say I did not know you at first I could not hear or know your words I did not think, that I did not think, that We could be But You- have become, Apart of the language that I speak As I try to learn, you give me air to breathe I did not know you at first I could not hear or know your words I did not know you at first I could not hear or know your words I did not think, that I did not think, that We would be As part of you I grow As part of me you know
18.
The Word Keeper There’s a sea between words You immerse and focus Leave your mouth wide open Breathe while you are spoken For you are now a word I’ll understand Call you out and there’s meaning to the sound Walls are high but my voices bring them down Thought that I was a keeper of this town I learn you have two meanings We fall when you deceive us Enthralled, but you should leave us Don’t leave this world in silence For you are now a word we’ll understand Call you out and there’s meanings to the sound Walls are high but our voices bring them down Thought that we were the keepers of this town For you are now a word I’ll understand For you are now a word I’ll understand For you are now a word I’ll understand For you are now a word I’ll understand

The life and times of Harriet Tubman I’ll meet you in the morning Sang Moses to her company The promised land calls me It’s death or liberty An unknown, rail road, Helped lead her from her home We’ll sing with you, my dear A coded farewell This northern star Took me To a new country This war has brought me To new Liberty So Moses now lived free But thoughts of her, family Which took her back, to the Lost Southern, countries I’ll sing to you we’re told The underground railroad Took the many un-free To their liberty I’ll sing to you we’re told The underground railroad Took the many un-free To their liberty Took the many un-free To their liberty

The Napier Ball North and south will get together It will be quite a show Then a wild rose stands before me I’ll tell you what I know But now we dance together At this last ball Before you run to London Looking for war But our union’s swayed by silver And the words you write Golden coins could drag you under Dressed in cotton for a fight But now we dance together At this last ball Before you run to London Looking for war But now we dance together At this last ball Before you run to London Looking for war

Sit Down 03:16
Sit Down We’ll see if things are like you say We’ll see when darkness comes to pass When you’re freed from trials and rise above We’ll see Thank god the barriers were thin Thank god that you were listening They thought that he was here for good Thank god I recall now saying that you didn’t seem that sad Who knew what you had to go through When it ended Well who’s glad? We’ll see if you’re hiding from yourself We’ll see who gathers all the wealth We’ll see what comes to those who pray We’ll see Thank god my eyes have had a shock Thank god you’ve opened up the lock She’s safe a million miles away. Thank god I recall now saying that you didn’t seem that sad Who knew what you had to go through When it ended Well who’s glad? Ooooh , Ooooh , Ooooh, Aaahh We’ll see but only from outside We’ll see who swallows up their pride Sit down if you can find a seat Sit down Who knew what you had to go through When it ended Well who’s glad?

The Boxer 02:41
The Boxer Just a young boy standing in the fringes Just a young boy tied to a ridged life A quiet place in the corner Made of structure and sacrifice Just a young boy standing in the fringes Just a young boy tied to a ridged life A quiet place in the corner You wouldn’t look twice You wouldn’t look twice But today he felt strange And today looked aside To follow the winds of change Into another life Of and his words they threw a punch That broke his mothers wrath His will it took a stance That would not be held back Just a young boy standing in the fringes Just a young boy Tied to a ridged life A quiet place in the corner You wouldn’t look twice You wouldn’t look twice Till he found himself in the corner With the world watching him dance Till he found himself in the corner With the world watching him dance From the corner the young boy could see And from the corner the young boy he flew And from the corner of the ing he grew strong fists that Broke the air in two (Instrumental) Just a young boy standing in the fringes Just a young boy tied to a ridged life A quiet place in the corner You wouldn’t look twice You wouldn’t look twice You wouldn’t look twice You wouldn’t look twice

For a long time I’ve played the straight line No danger No stranger. I don’t notice Silent protest Dreams of going east Thoughts of heading west What stops my feet? Then these moments First black as tar Then clear to me As I leave this bar And these memories Of laying down The things that make My world go round Only now can I Step of this train Jump off the bus Run back to us How many times before I change my ways Safety reins Throughout these days Then these moments First black as tar Then clear to me As I leave this bar And these memories Of laying down The things that make My world go round

FORTUNES NEVER KIND I’m the author I want to be I write about beauty And all that’s close to me I’m happy in my home But conscious I’m alone, with more money than I’ve known Yet often now I find That fate will be unkind To all the words I write Seems dangerous next to me My stories tend to read Like obituries So, baby, if you spend Some time with me, well then I’ll write you in the end Then darling would you mind If the love that we had found Was the temporary kind. So darling if we spend Some time together, sure We’ll write ours in the end Write my, write my, write our obituary Thought that we were strange But darling, these days its.. It’s just contemporary Living with you My home becomes a zoo And it’s just not habituary Thank God it’s all in your obituary Thought that we could find a mutual piece of mind But, that was just temporary Darling don’t you find That fortune’s never kind And the future it’s getting scary Every time I write Someone else will die, and it’s not good, it’s obligatory Everything’s confused and I don’t know who’s who, and they Think I’m a mercenary Thank God that’s not in my obituary Thank God it’s right in my obituary Oh, but they didn’t ask me To write my own obituary
26.
Up For Work 03:57
Up for work Up for work, cold snow Like the way it stings My face my fingers, my toes Up for work Say goodbye Don’t look my wife In the eye Up for work Tired from the night before Not quite, ready for the day ahead What will tomorrow bring… In the cold, warm coat Wait to meet him Like the way his smile meets mine In the cold, out the house As the lies build, up I cant, get out In the cold, night air, stranger meets me, Knows my name and.. What will tomorrow bring… x2 And a ladder is leant up Another climb to the next rung And a stranger is giving me a foot up And a friend is giving me a leg A bit of luck A bit of luck A bit of luck What will tomorrow bring… x2 Were all the same as the game turns Were all the same as the game turns And changes were stuck to the edges Getting churned up What will tomorrow bring…

Bobo and the cattle Don’t let’s go to the dogs tonight Though the chances are high and there’s signs that we might Don’t let’s go to the dogs tonight There’s work to be done and two makes it light We take the horses and ride on the sand The cattle are lost and they must be found They’ll keep a herd but they’ve had years to roam You know the dogs are thirsty and we should go home We didn’t plan to drink today But the path narrows out and I’m starting to sway I said “I’ll wait here for you” …and now I’m alone The sun is going and our dogs have gone. Don’t let’s go to the dogs tonight Though I can hear them howling and I think that I might Don’t let’s go to the dogs tonight Though I can hear them howling and I think that I might You came back just in time With the dogs and the horses and a cattle line These days of sweat make the land sown But that’s just what makes this my home And that’s what makes this my home Don’t let’s go to the dogs tonight We’ve made it home and now it’s night Don’t let’s go to the dogs tonight I can hear them howling but we’re alright Don’t let’s go to the dogs tonight We got whisky here in the starlight Don’t let’s go to the dogs tonight We got whisky here in the starlight We got whisky here in the starlight

Where did we begin? Mountains turn from pink to slate Outlaw nation, rebel state Who will remember if the schools won’t write it down How many die here? As the shots don’t make a sound Walking round in skin Where did we begin Walking round in circles Don’t blame it on gin Coloured by the history books We are proud and off the hooks Who will remember if the schools have closed their doors We can do no wrong here, though we break their foreign shores Aahhh x3 Walking round in skin Where did we begin Walking round in circles Don’t blame it on gin Mountains turn from pink to slate Outlaw nation rebel state

The Mariner’s first smile What, have I been waiting for? The first, smile I ever saw Then I, went to sea With your, smile in me Go, where the sail’s go But masts come down, when it really blows And all the things, that we horde Are des, tined overboard Off you go to sea I hope you’ll think of me Put on my dancing shoes And I might think of you But I just might Sing my songs at night Dance the floors and find Someone new So I came back to shore To be with you evermore I’ve been married to the sea And you to he Off you go to sea I hope you’ll think of me Put on my dancing shoes And I might think of you But I just might Sing my songs at night Dance the floors and find Someone new Then in the door The first smile that I ever saw You looked at me And I at thee

Gold and Black Born to a cot in Bermondsey Sailors song for a bedtime story Reborn in a tigers mouth Dragged into a brand new land The Sailors song Pumping my blood from before I was born And the big black sea, Filled, my dreams Finger tips, shiny black, wrinkled bricks Rutted horse shit, jagged lanes, bent elbows, crooked knees streets, heavy smells Crossed you as you passed Weighing your senses down Oh and above all this rang the sound Of voices wild and dark Melodies in flight, tiptoeing, Above the sight of us And I imagine myself far away Somewhere hot and strange Where the cats are painted gold and black And I am not afraid Where the cats are painted gold and black And I am not afraid And above all this rang the sound Of voices wild and dark And it is here, that my future starts And is to be with the crimson beasts And the wings that beat Blood red as the black sea fills my head And the sailors song pumping my blood From before I was born And the black sea, has seen and soaked through me Oh and above all this rang the sound Of voices wild and dark Melodies in flight, tiptoeing, Above the sight of us And I imagine myself far away Somewhere hot and strange Where the cats are painted gold and black And I am not afraid Where the cats are painted gold and black And I am not afraid

How many bones to build a man? (The Downfall of Les Innocents) Dig the land to make the man in old Versailles, but I will never clear a thing if I were to fall in. Clear the graves to make a way, and all who work will be repaid with money left for purpose by the king. We take the bodies from the soil, before the air begins to spoil, the future will come here in the end This city has no place for bones, beside the markets, whores and homes, it’s by the church that we have piled them. Downfall at Les Innocents Decay and wretched stench But the love and sweet incense Cleanse the innocent Set the fire by the walls, and leave the heat to take the souls, where men’s hammers can’t the flames can. There is light along the aisles, and men are running for the sun is coming in everywhere I stand. So I walk in to Versailles, for my year’s money and I, walk against the crowds that come As they pass I have no doubt, I know more than most about, how, many bones to build a man. How many bones, to build a man? Downfall at Les Innocents Decay and wretched stench But the love and sweet incense Cleanse the innocent Downfall at Les Innocents

The Engineer’s Paris Exhausted Earth Shadowed by an empty church Lit through the October light A deathly quiet Do do do – da da da da An Auburn Girl Gently passes through her world Pressing on the stiffened grass A well trodden path But he is led in a merry dance Through the streets of merry France A French Parisian His New acquaintance And he finds himself a suit to suit the trend And he finds himself a suit to suit the trend Deep the men They dig the earth Hard and steady as they work Heavy air and heavy ground Moving on, the future is, (fast) The only sound Immortal As it fills the ground And he is led in a merry dance Through the streets of merry France A French Parisian His New acquaintance And he finds himself a suit to suit the trend And he finds himself a suit to suit the trend

HEART IN HAND As I stand still Like the frozen sea Beneath my feet I find myself Thick in thought Like the frozen floor Glassy eyes As I try To see As the fear Stacks up, In front of me As the fear Stacks up, In front of me And the fire in my heart Well it was almost out A slow death But the beauty and the light And the stillness of the night And the dark air Becomes so loud A roaring sound But the beauty and the light And the stillness of the night Comes in time And the layers of the ice A kaliederscope so bright In my mind And alone I start to understand And alone I stand heart in hand And alone I understand And alone I stand heart in hand

Steady On 03:52
STEADY ON Dark Shiver Frozen Dead Still Days Years Trapped Fear Steady on, lost your track, how will you make it back? Listen hard, nothing there, how did you lose your bearings, As the snow clings, the wind sings. Can’t Shiver Longing Over Steady on, lost your track, how will you make it back? Listen hard, nothing there, how did you lose your bearings, As the snow clings, the wind sings.
